Why the Why of MonsoonSIM?

Apr 24, 2024

“Find your why and you’ll find your way.” – John C. Maxwell.

Delving into why the why of MonsoonSIM, let us start with a simple question:

What does a slide ruler, an abacus, and business applications have in common?

Certainly, they are about the “how” of things. With the “how” perspective, it takes on a more mechanical and procedural outlook, at times even seeming impersonal and unrelatable to learners.

With countless technology transformations and evolution throughout the years, this “how” perspective is often the first to lose the interest and appeal of learners. Take the check and balance for example. Before the digital revolution and the increasing dependency on automated processes, check and balance was always a process done on paper. However, with the disruptive technology, the “how” has changed and now, payments can be done between banks and hosts, e-invoices are standardized and more fully integrated in society, and the paper check and balances grow out of popularity. This is exactly the same with the “how” perspective in the learning process.

MonsoonSIM passionately advocates a hands-on, immersive and experiential learning journey and this is why we strive to change your “how” perspective into a “why” perspective, because we believe that learner engagement is one of the crucial keys for an effective and efficient education.

To demonstrate MonsoonSIM’s “why” rather than “how”, it should be understood that MonsoonSIM does not teach how to set up master data (because it depends on the business software used and changes across different contexts), nor teach how to create purchase or sales order (because it varies and changes with newer available systems), nor about creating accounting journal entries (because it is already so automated). Instead, what MonsoonSIM teaches are certain constants, such as why cash management is important, why we need to maintain our supply chain well, and why human capital is important for the company—and all this is presented not just in theories or facts, but in application. Learners will have the chance to explore the processes, tasks and responsibilities involved in these prevalent areas of business.

With the changing world, it is now more important than ever to not just keep up despite these changes, but also thrive and flourish along with it. This then begs the question of whether you students want to re-learn and you teachers want to re-teach every single time when a new disruptive technology comes along to change the business processes and business software, or to study the unchanging principles that act as the foundation to all areas of business?

With that said, learn less of the “how” and more of the “why”, and learn all this with MonsoonSIM!
