Ciputra University is an educational institution in Surabaya founded over 12 years ago. Presently, Ciputra University has 7 faculties and 1 graduate school, namely School of Business and Economics, School of Information Technology, School of Creative Industry, School of Psychology, School of Tourism, School of Communication Science and Media Businesses, School of Medicine and School of Entrepreneurship and Humanities.
Defining entrepreneurship as more than just selling, founding and running a business, Ciputra University believes that the creative and innovative aspects found within entrepreneurship, the ability to understand and analyze market sensitivity and to take sharp, calculated risks are among the most important facets that students must be well-versed in to face the real-world business environment. Ciputra University equips their students with these skills and competencies through MonsoonSIM and the occasional competition, such as this EPIC 2021.
The EPIC 2021 competition itself is divided into 2 rounds, where a total of 7 teams with the highest scores accumulated from Round 1 and Round 2 will proceed to the third round. Furthermore, a valuable second chance will also be given to the 3 highest teams to enter the final round.

The third round, on the other hand, consisted of a grading matrix of Net Profit (25%), Cash on Hand (25%), Retail (15%), Market Share (10%), Late Shipment B2B (10%) and Wholesales B2B (15%). Ramping up the difficulty in the final round, the grading matrix included Overflow (retail) of 10%, Net Profit of 25%, Cash on Hand of 15%, Retail of 15%, Market Share of 10%, Late Shipment B2B of 10% and Wholesales B2B of 15%.
The final round was made up of over 130 days, with 30 seconds allotted per day, and involved the interconnected departments of Finance, Retail, Forecast, Marketing, Warehouse and B2B.
Through competitions such as EPIC 2021, MonsoonSIM’s business simulation and gamification education platform not only provides an experiential, immersive and integrative learning method that teaches business concepts of different departments interconnectedly, but also models after and simulates business processes in real-life.
Unlike the textbook theories taught in class which shows a specific, linear path of business process, MonsoonSIM allows for a detailed and interrelated view of the way businesses and their various departmental processes operate in the real-world. MonsoonSIM’s platform prepares students by presenting business concepts in the form of a comprehensive business simulation with thirteen interconnected business departments. MonsoonSIM looks forward to supporting the students at Ciputra University in a way where there’s more to learn, easier to learn!
