On Monday, 23rd of August, the ARCADE 2 competition ran by Universitas Parahyangan Bandung in collaboration with MonsoonSIM took place. Organized by the Students Association HMPSA with the leader William Asali, this exciting event was attended by 23 teams and over 115 students from the university itself.
Universitas Parahyangan Bandung, otherwise known as its abbreviation UNPAR, was founded in 1955 under the leadership of the Catholic Church in Indonesia with the goal to produce highly-educated experts to build and advance Indonesia after the War of Independence. Presently, Universitas Parahyangan Bandung remains one of the oldest and most prestigious private universities in Indonesia, with its main campus is located on Ciumbuleuit street in the city of Bandung.
Across their Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral programs, Universitas Parahyangan Bandung nears 10,000 students and has 7 established faculties, namely the Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Philosophy, Faculty of Industrial Technology, and Faculty of Information Technology and Science.
With its motto “Bakuning Hyang Mrih Guna Santyaya Bhakti”, which translates to “Based on the belief in God, pursuing knowledge in devotion to the community”, Universitas Parahyangan Bandung also carries out its mission to conduct education and learning by combining academic superiority and the character building of students by hosting events like this ARCADE 2 competition that can enrich the education of students and allow them to explore their potential at an international level.
The ARCADE 2 competition started off with an introductory speech by Ivan Prasetya, SE., MSM., M.Eng., the Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni (Wakil Dekan Bidang Kemahasiswaan dan Alumni), and concluded by the Felisia, SE., M.Ak., the Head of the Accounting Undergraduate Study Program.
The ARCADE 2 competition uses MonsoonSIM’s business simulation and gamification education platform, where the different teams of students compete in running their own virtual business across different modules. The scoring matrix of the competition considers each team’s virtual business performance in terms of cash on hand, net profit, gross profit margin, space utilization, late shipment (B2B), retail stockout, market share, utilization-machine capacity, day sales in inventory and more.
At the end of it all, the winning team of the ARCADE 2 competition is Team 204, as seen in the results of the scoring matrix of the UNIPAR Grand Final Game 2021 below.
MonsoonSIM’s business simulation and gamification education platform not only provides an experiential, immersive and integrative learning method that teaches business concepts of different departments interconnectedly, but also models after and simulates business processes in real-life.
Unlike the textbook theories taught in class which shows a specific, linear path of business process, MonsoonSIM allows for a detailed and interrelated view of the way businesses and their various departmental processes operate in the real-world. MonsoonSIM’s platform prepares students by presenting business concepts in the form of a comprehensive business simulation with thirteen interconnected business departments. MonsoonSIM looks forward to supporting the students at Universitas Parahyangan Bandung in a way where there’s more to learn, easier to learn.
