Jakarta (January 2017). University Esa Unggul (UEU) is not new to Enterprise Resource Planning(ERP). In fact, UEU has been providing SAP Fundamental Courses since 2014. This year, however, UEU has decided to expand its ERP offerings by opening up its ERP programs to more students across more faculties. The expansion is now made possible through a unique, new business simulation and educational platform called MonsoonSIM.
Using MonsoonSIM, UEU expects to open the minds of students who would otherwise believe that the SAP courses are too technical or too complicated.
The SAP ERP Courses offered are mostly focused on a specific business function or business department. For example, SAP SD is the study of how SAP ERP system is being used in a Sales and Distribution department, while SAP MM is how SAP ERP system is being used in a Purchasing or Material Management department. Often, such knowledge is very specific to a particular business unit.
With MonsoonSIM as a foundation course, students can learn the basics of "total" integrated business concept first, without having to take a deep dive into a specific business function. When a student completes the MonsoonSIM base-line workshop, he/she would learn the basic intricacy of twelve departmental business processes and their relationships with one another. The departments covered by MonsoonSIM are Finance, Procurement, Retail, Wholesales, Logistics and Warehouse, Marketing, Production, Asset Management, Human Resources and Service Management.
Many universities today are gunning for "marketable, international certificate". According to Mukhamad Abduh from the Economy Faculty: "With MonsoonSIM, we aim to achieve more than 1000 (SAP) certifications. We also hope that more and more students will take on the subject of business, business process, ERP, and become certified in SAP in the years to come".
MonsoonSIM is a cloud-based simulation platform. MonsoonSIM enables learning by doing - the new revolutionary experiential learning method. Through the Train-The-Trainer (TTT) session, professors and lecturers from Computer Faculty, Technology Faculty, and the Economy Faculty come together for a three-day course to become certified in MonsoonSIM. Once certified, the lecturers can then conduct MonsoonSIM simulation for their students, anytime, anywhere thanks to the cloud technology.
