Bandung (December 2016). Hot on the heels of our annual International ERP Competition Singapore 2016 which concluded beautifully last September when over 1500 students from over 45 universities had participated, another university in Bandung had also concluded it's own second inter-high school competition in style.
Starting 2014, UKM had adopted MonsoonSIM as part of its curriculum. In addition, UKM was also the first university in the region to use MonsoonSIM as a new-student recruitment platform. Since adopting MonsoonSIM as their experiential learning platform, UKM has been running a number of recruitment competitions locally. Often, the winners of the competition were awarded scholarships on the spot.
"Yes, I really love Monsoon Simulation. MonsoonSim is a reliable platform to learn how business works in a company." said Meliana Hallomell, a senior lecturer in UKM who is one of the earliest Certified Facilitators of MonsoonSIM.
"Using MonsoonSIM as a recruitment platform for student enrollment is an absolutely brilliant idea. Today's university has to compete with many others to attract not only new students, but new students with good potential. The old way of recruiting enrollment by showcasing how big your sport stadiums are or how big your lecture halls are is outdated. Today's students are more interested in value and employability." said Sidharta, General Manager of MonsoonSIM Indonesia.
"It is absolutely amazing that within 1 day of competition, we are looking at highschoolers talking about their experience in running a fairly complex virtual enterprise - and with such ardor," said Andre Jatmiko, Certified Facilitator of MonsoonSIM Indonesia.
Universitas Kristen Maranatha, a well-established private university in Indonesia, uses the competition as a way to recruit young talents. This is the second time the University has done so in the past two years.
The two-day competition started with 12 teams from 8 local high schools, from which, six (6) teams were selected to move on to the Final.
Finally, the top 3 teams (winners) from the Final were selected -- and offered scholarships on the spot.
As usual, the competition was powered by MonsoonSIM, a unique ERP simulation, experiential and education platform.
"The players (participants) came to the event with absolutely zero knowledge about the business process and walked away with a good understanding of how a complex enterprise operates," said Andre Jatmiko, a MonsoonSIM certified trainer assisting the event.
The simulated virtual modules/concepts involved in this competition were Finance, Marketing, Warehouse, Logistics, Forecast, Wholesales and Production.
