Configurations and strategies of the Day...
All set to Go!
Enthusiasms, eagernesses, and expectations filled the Saturday library and hallway as all 23 teams were busy studying the configuration of the competition and forming their strategies half an hour before the battle for supremacy of the day began. They were then divided into 3 groups and assigned to 3 computer rooms. As soon as the bell rang, they competed fiercely in MonsoonSIM which was set to run concurrently. It was an exciting atmosphere for only the top 3 of each group, 9 in total emerged as finalists in the afternoon session. And it was even more exciting in the afternoon final session when the competition intensified with real heat coming on after 90 virtual days of the 160 that was configured in this challenge. Down the stretch, it was a closely contested competition for the top 3 teams namely Optimum of National University, MAPUA 1 of Mapua Institute of Technology, and Bangan of National University. They were running neck-n-neck-n-neck,, see sawing,, changing hands in lead back and forth... with 30 virtual days remaining, BANGAN came away as clear winner as the battle between OPTIMUM and MAPUA 1 was still ongoing. And during which time, a couple of second place lead changes had actually taken place. Counting down to the last virtual day and sprinting to beat the clock, MAPUA 1, by virtue of clicking the button for the last sale of the day, managed to turn some of its stocks into cash-in-hand which constituted 20% of the total score just in time to win by a whisker. What a finish! Battling it out!
Anxious for results...
The rest of the competitors all had put up a very good fight. I certainly hope that MonsoonSIM Business Process by way of Experiencial Learning had helped them see how different modules of business can be systematically interlinked, and how such interrelated relationships serve to raise their level of understanding in doing business. By all means, I am sure they would realize that there's more to MonsoonSIM than just Game. When all was said and done for the day, we appreciated their participations very much. The fact that they can make it to National University for this ERMC Philippines Final, they were already winners. I am sure they will value this experience in time to come. Many thanks to Dr. Medy Cruz, Miss Pinky, and relevant faculty members of the College of Business and Accountancy as well as student volunteers and IT Department personnel of National University for hosting this ERMC 2016 Philippines Final event and making it a success. Thanks to all the lecturers of relevant schools of University of Santo Tomas, Asia Pacific College, Jose Rizal University, MAPUA Institute of Technology, Centro Escolar University, Lyseum of the Philippines University, Asian College, New Era University, Technological Institute of the Philippines, and International Electronics and Technical Institute for leading their students to the Competition.A very special thanks to Miss Jackylyn Zulueta of SAP for all her support.
