MonsoonSIM Enterprise Resource Management Competition MERMC 2019 – Malaysia Country Final

Saturday, 20th July 2019 – MERMC 2019, Malaysia Country Final was MonsoonSIM’s 5th Inter-varsity business simulation competition, hosted by Monsoon Academy and its partners. The competition was a highly competitive event with the following objectives:

  •  Expose students to the concept of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) through fun simulation games.
  •  A platform where students learn through visual engagement in a self-directed manner.
  •  From theory to application, students will be able to acquire more practical knowledge as a team and are ready to fit themselves in the real world

MERMC 2019 MY Country Final was proudly endorsed and sponsored by SAP. Along with that, as for the 4th consecutive year, Asia Pacific University (APU) was the host for MERMC 2019 MY Country Final. As one of MonsoonSIM’s value-added approaches, MERMC 2019 MY Country Final was opened to every institute around Malaysia, welcoming students of every level to join the business battle. About 29 teams from different institutes competed in MERMC 2019 MY Country Final, whereby 10 teams from the total were sponsored by KnowledgeCom (Kcom):

  • 2 teams from Multimedia University, Cyberjaya (MMU)
  •  6 teams from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR)
  •  6 teams from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, JB (UTM)
  •  2 team from KDU College University
  •  3 teams from Asia Pacific University (APU)

  •  3 teams from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM)

  •  1 team from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM)
  •  2 teams from Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP)

The competition was designed with 2 game rounds [Game 1, 30% and Game 2, 70%] with 3 groups for every game, whereby participants were set to ballot prior to every round. Final results were determined based on the total percentage scored by teams from Game 1 and Game 2, with the following KPIs

  • Net Profit (High) - 25%
  •  Operating Expense (Low) - 10%
  •  Sales Revenue (High) - 10%
  •  Profit Margin (High) - 15%
  •  Inventory Value (Low) - 10%
  •  Cash On Hand (High) - 5%
  •  Staff turnover ratio (Low) - 5%
  •  Utilization - All space (High) - 10%
  •  Late Shipment - Wholesales (Low) - 5%
  •  Retail Stockout (Low) - 5%

4 teams were shortlisted as winning teams to MERMC 2019 – Regional Final, Hong Kong. MERMC 2019 MY Country

Final winners:

Championship: Team Frozeneko from USM

1st Runner – up : Team Niubility from UTAR

2nd Runner – up: Team Tuna Sings from UTAR

4th Qualifiers: Team Dududu from UTAR.


As MERMC 2019 MY Country Final’s Gold Sponsor, Kcom had honored our winners with trophies, individual medals and cash rewards worth of RM 3, 000 for top 3 teams
