This month concludes the completion of the June Joyride League Event hosted by MonsoonSIM. Held every Saturday of the week for the entire month of June, this league event comprises of 4 games, each set at a higher difficulty level as compared to the prior week’s game. Right of the bat, there were 9 enterprising clubs battling in this international MonsoonSIM arena, all coming from various different distinguished universities and educational institutions, among them Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII), Creative Talent Asia, Universitas International Semen Indonesia, FEB Universitas Hasanuddin, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, and BPK Penabur Universitas Diponegoro. It was exhilarating to see players coming together in their clubs, not only to compete for victory, but also to have fun along the way.
Mr. Abdy Taminsyah, founder and CEO of MonsoonSIM, once said, “At the very heart of what MonsoonSIM is all about is to make learning enjoyable for students, to bring fun and excitement into education.”
From what we’ve witnessed, MonsoonSIM has certainly brought that aspiration into action with the league events, like this June Joyride. A recent interview with the grand winner of June Joyride, a club by the name of Expelliarmus, has certainly proven that.
Expelliarmus is a club that consists of 5 members: Partinah, Maudi Rahmah Azzahra, Rizki Tania Putri, Anita Putri Kumalasari and Fadhel Afif Ramadhan, who is the appointed leader of the team. These exceptional MonsoonSIM players are students majoring in Accounting at the Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII), under the guidance of their coach and MonsoonSIM Facilitator, Muhammad Fadhly Rizky Octavio.
Having started playing MonsoonSIM around last year, these students had collaborated together as a commendable team and discussed their strategies first before each game of June Joyride. With the club’s preparation and dedicated efforts, this enabled them to face the challenges, one of them as they have mentioned being that they can’t see the scoring matrix so they had to play it carefully from the start, with a steadfast performance to reach satisfactory results. Readily stepping up to the challenge, the team had also said that their favourite out of the 4 June Joyride games was the one held in the last week, on the 26th of June, where they were in a tight and suspenseful competition with the Minions Club of FEB Universitas Hasanuddin, with only a 2-point difference.
When asked about their overall experience with the league event, the Expelliarmus Club had said, “June Joyride is an amazing event. We can compete with various teams from other countries and we are very grateful that we were able to end the league as winners.”
These MonsoonSIM league events date back to October 2019, when the first ever league event took place. During that time, the league, named Liga HIMASI, was facilitated by Universitas Budi Luhur, and MonsoonSIM players were very much eager to showcase their acquired skills from the business simulation and gamification education platform in public and compete with fellow players and clubs that share the same interest and passion for MonsoonSIM.
Now, with over 91 leagues and 1,881 club games conducted throughout the MonsoonSIM network, large-scale competitions between keen, enthusiastic players are a staple within the MonsoonSIM family culture and a routine one does to measure one’s performance and observe one’s progress. With over 1,078 clubs so far, the opportunities to gather together and play in leagues are endless. With every league and club game joined, MonsoonSIM players and clubs can reach higher PELO and ELO ratings, respectively. With the top-rated clubs to date including ARSANTA WIDYADHARMA of Universitas Islam Indonesia (ELO: 1776), Shark of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (ELO: 1697) and BioHaZarD of Singapore University of Social Sciences (ELO: 1635), MonsoonSIM is unequivocally a global platform that enables players worldwide to both interact and learn from one another through enriching experiences and invaluable exposure, in a way where there’s more to learn, easier to learn.
