We are proud to announce and warmly welcome Universiti Malaysia Pahang in joining our MonsoonSIM family!
Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) is a five-star, world-class technological university established as a focused, technical university in 2002, with its variety of unique academic programs that’s continuously innovated and developed upon. UMP strives to become a leading contributor of engineering and technology-based programs as well as research outputs, with specializations in the discipline of engineering, industrial sciences and technology, which are very much in high demand by students in a rapidly-developing country like Malaysia.
With currently over 12,320 students, UMP operates in two campuses, where the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Manufacturing Engineering and Faculty of Electric and Electronics Engineering resides in the campus of Pekan, whilst the campus in Gambang is home to the Faculty of Civil Engineering Technology, Faculty of Science and Industrial Technology, Faculty of Chemical and Process Engineering, Faculty of Industrial Management, Institute of Postgraduates Studies, Centre for Human Sciences and Centre for Mathematical Sciences.
MonsoonSIM would also like to welcome Ts. Dr Lee Khai Loon, who is a senior Lecturer and Deputy Dean of Academic and Student Affairs in the Faculty of Industrial Management (FIM) in UMP, who is joining our network of MonsoonSIM facilitators across the globe. With specialization in technology management, operation management, supply chain management, industrial engineering and business management, Ts. Dr Lee Khai Loon is assuredly a brilliant addition to our MonsoonSIM family.
UMP embraces the teaching and learning approach that’s highly centered on students and is problem-based. Renowned for their “Teaching Factory” concept, a “learning by doing” approach where UMP students are taught by accomplished and seasoned faculties, this creates a learning environment that equips students for the real-world. This is in line with the proposed value of MonsoonSIM business simulation and gamification education platform, where students are encouraged to learn by remembering, doing and exploring, through the process of practicing and experimenting and flourishing from experience. The integration of MonsoonSIM within UMP complements the teaching style of UMP's experienced faculty to the bright and keen students.
It is often said that teaching supply chain-related courses can be challenging for the lecturer, given the lack of practical experience of undergraduate students that acts as an obstacle towards their understanding of the supply chain concepts. Moreover, there is a limited opportunity for students to apply the theoretical know-how they have learnt in the classroom, not to mention that linking all the different business elements together via imagination would simply be difficult for students with limited involvement in the actual industry.
MonsoonSIM puts careful consideration into these commonly-encountered issues and presents another attractive method of teaching that the lecturer can adopt as the ideal solution. Not only does the MonsoonSIM platform allow easier visualization of the business and supply chain concept, but it also integrates the various business elements in a way that enables students to practice and apply all the theoretical know-how that has been imparted to them in the classroom. With MonsoonSIM, students can have both more experience and exposure to the real business environment, virtually in the classroom or anywhere else.
With countless business concepts crucial and fundamental to trading, distribution, eCommerce, manufacturing and service businesses globally, the MonsoonSIM platform prepares students by presenting these concepts in the form of a comprehensive business simulation with thirteen interconnected business departments. MonsoonSIM looks forward to supporting the students at Universiti Malaysia Pahang in a way where there’s more to learn, easier to learn.
