The long-awaited Penang MonsoonSIM User Conference 2020 had finally been materialized on the 17th & 18th, January at Hotel Jen by Shangri-La in Penang, Malaysia!
Certified Trainers (CT) from Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, and Australia had participated in this event to witness the launching of MonsoonSIM Version 8, as well as to learn Data Analytics, a hot topic in today's higher education, using Live Data extracted from MonsoonSIM simulations.
Throughout the 2-day Conference, multiple presentations were conducted by MonsoonSIM personnel, Senior Lecturers and CTs from various universities across the region. Much interactions and sharing of experiences on MonsoonSIM with CTs also took the stage.
After the opening by the Marketing Director of MonsoonSIM, Mr. Donald Lim, the President of MonsoonSIM, Mr. Abdy Taminsyah introduced MonsoonSIM Version 8 with various updates and changes to the audience. Some of the notable updates were the introduction of a new demo mode for certified trainers, as well as new location settings available for the players.

After a short coffee break, Dr. Choo Peng Yin, the Deputy Dean of Faculty ICT from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman(UTAR) Malaysia, presented “MonsoonSIM Plus Plus”. In his presentation, Dr. Choo had shown how MonsoonSIM is being implemented as a part of UTAR students’ academic course, and how MonsoonSIM would enable students to relate to the ERP in the real world.

After lunch, Mr. Adi Suryaputra Paramita, the Chair of Information System School, from Universitas Ciputra, Indonesia, shared his perspective on the topic of "MonsoonSIM for Data Technoprenuership Curriculum Development". He demonstrated the relevancy of MonsoonSIM to the Technoprenuership Curriculum in Universitas Ciputra.

The day ended with a much-anticipated workshop for all the CTs and participants. Mr. Sidharta Gunawan (RnD Product Manager of MonsoonSIM) demonstrated how MonsoonSIM simulation game's Live Data can be extracted for the learning of Data Analytics. All the CTs and participants of the day had the opportunity to learn hands-on how to integrate the data into Google Data Studio to produce a more in-depth analysis of the game.

Day-2 of the conference began with a sharing session with several CTs.

Dr. May Ming-De, Department of Industrial Management, CEO of ERP Cloud Center Lunghwa University of Science and Technology on "Introduction of Problem Based Learning(PBL) in ERP Courses for Technical University Students and The ERP Education in Taiwan.
Ms. Lovita Fillyand from the Indonesia Banking School on "MonsoonSIM Development for Indonesia Banking School, IBS"

They shared with the audience how MonsoonSIM is being implemented into their courses as well as the future planning for MonsoonSIM in their respective Universities.

Moving on to the next session, Dr. Zulkifli Khair, from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia(UTM), presented “MonsoonSIM Creativity Challenge: The Game Changer”. He displayed how UTM has included MonsoonSIM into some of the university courses, as well as showed how UTM aided the students to grasp a better understanding of the business learning environment through MonsoonSIM.

The highlight of the day was another workshop conducted by Mr. Sidharta Gunawan (RnD Product Manager of MonsoonSIM). Certified Trainers and all the participants had another opportunity to learn Data Analytics, this time through Microsoft Power BI.

Before the ending of the conference, tokens of appreciation were given to all the speakers. This year, 5 special Awards were also presented to outstanding individuals.
Best Effort Partner Award 2020: Mr Michael Chan of Creative Talent Asia Ltd., Hong Kong, for the time and energy that he and his team had put in to hold the MERMC International Grand Final Hong Kong 2019 at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in August last year.
Most Successful Partner Award 2020: Mr. Paramin of Zonix Service, Thailand, for his input in MonsoonSIM and his tireless engagement with universities in Thailand.
Most Creative Implementation User Award 2020: Dr. Choo Peng Yin andUniversiti Tunku Abdul Raman(UTAR) of Malaysia for their creativity in implementing MonsoonSIM.
Best Academic Influencer Award 2020: Dr. Jonathan Leong of the School of Science and Technology, and Dr. Ma Nang Laik of the School of Business of Singapore University of Social Sciences(SUSS), for their collective effort in the research on Experiential Learning Theory (ELT). Dr. Marcus Lee and Dr. Bheema Lokesh receiving the awards of their behalf.
Most Consistent User Award 2020: Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta, for being the most frequent and balance user of MonsoonSIM over the last 6 years. Mr. Gunawan receiving the award on its behalf.
